A deadly suicide bombing occurred outside a government office in a tribal region where Pakistan’s army has bitterly fought the Taliban, killing at least 48 people and injuring 80 today.

This attack serves to be resonant of a grim reality that militants remain a potent force in Pakistan’s tribal belt bordering Afghanistan, where Mohmand continues to be one of several areas where the Taliban and Al Qaeda are believed to be hiding.
