This week, Teddy Borawski, the chief oil and gas geologist for the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and a member of Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett’s administration, serving in an official capacity, and on the record, compared my Sundance award-winning and Oscar-nominated documentary film GASLAND to Nazi propaganda stating “Goebbels would be proud.”  The slander was the latest in a series of smears and misinformation about the film and character attacks on me.

Nuclear Industry Plays Defense

The lobbyists from the nuclear industry are trying to counter the public reaction to the nuclear disaster in Japan. The old line Nuclear Energy Institute and aggressive companies allied with the Obama White House are trying to tout the claim that nuclear reactors are environmentally friendly compared to such C02 laden fuels like coal. Congressman Takes Credit for Attack on Clean Water in CR

In an effort to be industry-friendly, Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho) added language to the Continuing Resolution that would block any attempt by the Obama Administration to enforce rules under the Clean Water Act, undermining the EPA’s ability to administer these programs.  The House Leadership encouraged lawmakers to add riders that would diminish the EPA’s effectiveness.

Gov. Paterson Vetoes NY Drilling Moratorium, but bans High-Volume Hydofracking Until July 2011

Gov. David Paterson on Dec. 11 vetoed a bill that would have banned a wide range of gas drilling in New York State until the spring, but he placated environmental groups by issuing an order the same day that bans high-volume, horizontal hydrofracking in the state through July 1, 2011.
