[VIDEO] DOE Keeps Name of Employee Who Ran Security Barrier Secret

The Aiken Standard reports that the Department of Energy refuse to release the name of an employee who ran a security barrier at the nuclear weapons facility last month. The employee hit another car stopping at the barrier and then flipped over.

NYT: Afghans Linked to the Taliban Guard U.S. Bases

Afghan private security forces with ties to the Taliban, criminal networks and Iranian intelligence have been hired to guard American military bases in Afghanistan, exposing United States soldiers to surprise attack and confounding the fight against insurgents, according to a Senate investigation.

The general consensus, with which courts over the past decade have largely agreed, says high-intensity mid-frequency sonar can kill whales and dolphins. The National Marine Fisheries Services – part of the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration – explicitly allows Navy sonar tests and training exercises to result in the deaths of specific numbers of whales and dolphins as long as they have a negligible impact to the population.
